File Preperation

Please email all cut or print ready files to jaclyn@shimmeringceremony.com.

files can be accepted in .ai .svg and .pdf. We can not accept .jpeg .png or heic.

Registration for pre printed stock

  • We can use a registration dot method for registration of pre-printed stock. This requires a minimum of 3 .25” dots be added on the outside of the print and cut designs. the dots must be print in black or have a 3pt white stroke around the dot on a black or dark stock.

  • We also have the capability for a jig registration. In this case the shearing will need to be consistent and the sheared size will need to be provided on the cut file.

Spoilage / Extra Stock

  • From set up to finish there will be some spoilage during a laser cutting production. We take great pride in providing a quality product to do this we require an extra %5 of stock. This stock is expected to be lost in file set up and quality checks.

Tolerances

  • We have a 1/16” tolerance on all our cutting and deviation of the cuts under this threshold will not be considered mis-cut.

  • Keep in mind if you are cutting anything pre printed a bleed is recommended to allow for this tolerance.

Cut file preparation

  • laser cut designs are unique in that they must have all pieces connect to stay together. For discussion purposes, consider paper elements of a design as positive and holes as negative. All positive elements must connect to each other in some way or they’ll fall out. The larger the positive piece, the more connections it will need to be stable. we do not recommend connections that are less than 3pt stroke for 100lb card stock. Different materials will have a different tolerance to stay as a rigid piece. Our staff is always available to answer any questions about thickness on a particular material.

  • Do not use clipping masks to combine shapes. Laser cut designs require the shaped to be merged in to one new shape with an outline that you would ike cut.

  • Keep in mind lasers by nature will cut on a v where the top of the paper/material will be a wider cut than the bottom of the paper. For this reason we recommend cutting many design upside down so the thinnest cut lines are the front/presenting side of the material.
